DEJTON
ABOUT

Dejton is a fictionalized and somewhat satirical educational game about the difficulties of passing reform legislation in Bosnia and Herzegovina's Dayton constitutional regime.

It was created by Jasmin Mujanović, a political scientist specializing in the politics of Southeastern Europe, and the author of two books, Hunger and Fury: The Crisis of Democracy and The Bosniaks: Nationhood after Genocide. He also hosts the regional affairs podcast Balkanomnicon, produced by Odgovor.ba.

RESOURCES

For those interested in learning more about Bosnia and Herzegovina, its history and politics, there is a wide academic and popular literature to draw on.

Noel Malcolm's "Bosnia: A Short History" remains a standard reference work, which can be supplemented by Marko Attila Hoare's likewise excellent "The History of Bosnia," as well as Robert Donia's masterful "Sarajevo: A Biography". Peter Lippman's Surviving the Peace serves as a useful companion piece to these big picture histories because of its focus on the lives of 'ordinary' Bosnians since the war. With respect to academic treatments of the genocide in Bosnia, Edina Bećirević's "Genocide on the Drina River" remains paradigmatic.

Organizations committed to promoting substantive political reforms and democratic dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina include the Srebrenica Memorial Center, the Atlantic Initiative, the Sarajevo Open Center, La Benevolencija, and the Sarajevo Security Conference. In the U.S. (and Canada), there are also the Congress of North American Bosniaks, the United Strategic Alliance for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Bosnian-American Professional Organization.

Players and readers can also support my work by purchasing copies of my books, listening to my podcast, Balkanomnicon, by making a direct donation via PayPal, or simply sharing this game within your networks.

Thank you.
